What ThermalGlobe does
The initial service displays validated NASA FIRMS MODIS and VIIRS active-fire and thermal-anomaly detections. It makes a global dataset easier to explore; it does not turn a satellite observation into a confirmed incident.
What ThermalGlobe is not
- Not an emergency alert or evacuation system.
- Not an official incident, perimeter, dispatch, navigation, aviation, or firefighting product.
- Not proof that a fire exists at an exact point, or that no fire exists when no point is visible.
